Sound and Image Media Course

Budding movie-makers are being invited to learn a wide range of film-making skills at an exciting course to be held in Porth.    The Sound and Image Media Course will be running as part of Rhondda Cynon Taf Cultural Services Creative and Cultural Industries provision at Porth Plaza from Wednesday, February 25 until Wednesday, March 25 from 5:30pm - 7:30pm.    The course will be delivered by Media Education Wales, who delivered workshops for RCT at the recent Soundtrack Film Festival where Danny Boyle, director of award-winning movie Slumdog Millionaire,  was one of the guest speakers.

The course will cover:
- Planning, filming and editing an action sequence, adding and adjusting sound and music
- Editing a real TV drama scene
- Creating a title sequence using professional software and compositing techniques.

Making the title sequence will involve:
- Creating a soundtrack in Garageband
- Designing the text in Illustrator
- Combining text and still images in Photoshop
- Applying effects and motion in Final Cut Express
 
Basic Flash Animation will also be taught on the course, which is open to young people aged 11-25.  Places are limited and must be booked by contacting Caroline O’Neill on 01443 490258 

 


Break Dance Classes

If you are age 11-17 and interested in learning how to breakdance, why not come along to the Muni on Wednesday’s from 6.00-8.00pm.

Plugged In Magazine

Is out now and on sale at all libraries and venues in Rhondda Cynon Taff. Plugged In magazine is jam packed with live reviews and competitions and is a must for all music lovers.
