Public Art for Pontypridd

The development of a landmark sculpture for Pontypridd is underway. Welsh artist Andy Hazell has been appointed to create a gateway sculpture for the A470 entrance to the historic market town. He held a series of workshops as part of this public art project
A new lighting scheme for two of the County Borough’s oldest and most famous structures were completed in 2009. Lighting designs for Pontypridd’s historic bridges have been commissioned from British artist Lulu Quinn. The visibility and historic status of Brunel’s Viaduct and the William Edwards Bridge will be highlighted by these lighting designs.
These public art projects are part of an ongoing regeneration scheme for Pontypridd. Both schemes have been commissioned through Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council and funded from a variety of sources including the Arts Council of Wales, Visit Wales, Arts & Business, Pontypridd Town Council, Pontypridd Market Company and the Welsh Assembly Government, DE&T (Department for Economy & Transport)
